The year is 2021.
In October 1995, a meteor crashed into the Tiber river in Italy. The meteorite contains an unknown alien substance the global scientific community has identified as Tiberium. Tiberium is able to absorb and crystallize precious metals from the soil it attaches itself into, as well as terraform its surroundings and filling the atmosphere with extremely toxic gas & radiation that is fatal to both humans and animals. The United Nations and other international entities scramble to contain the new ecological threat to Earth, but find themselves hampered by an unconventional organization that launches devastating attacks in order to halt the containment attempts; The Brotherhood of Nod.
A self-proclaimed ancient, cultic society that claims to have foreseen the arrival of Tiberium on Earth through their leader, self-proclaimed prophet and messianic figure known only as Kane. NOD invests in the development of harvesting technologies that allow it to exploit the economic potential of the newly arriving substance, far ahead of the global scientific community, which makes it able to accumulate a large amount of wealth and help supply its rapidly growing army of followers worldwide.
In response to the Brotherhood's increasingly aggressive measures, The United Nations Security Council approves the forming of the Global Defense Initiative, a multinational counter-terrorist organization that is mainly sponsored by the G8 nations with a standing army formed of professional soldiers from all over the world - to counterweigh NOD's increasingly aggressive worldwide stance against the civilized world, with both entities aiming to control the spread of Tiberium for opposite goals; with GDI aiming to stop the spread of Tiberium and removing it entirely from Earth, while the Brotherhood views Tiberium as the catalyst for the next stage of human evolution - going far to conduct experiments on animals and humans.
The current setting of the server takes place in Latvia, following a deadly terrorist attack on the capital, GDI deploys a battalion to deal with the NOD threat present in the country - which aims to take over the capital in order to establish a new European base of operations in the country.
